Brighton and Hove Albion Stun Manchester City 3-2
Mane's Heroics Help Liverpool Seal Premier League Title
Brighton and Hove Albion produced a stunning comeback to beat Premier League champions Manchester City 3-2 at the AMEX Stadium on Wednesday night.
Pep Guardiola's side looked set to cruise to victory when they took a 2-0 lead inside 20 minutes, with Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez on target.
However, Brighton were given a lifeline when Joao Cancelo was sent off for a second yellow card after just 10 minutes.
The Seagulls made the most of their numerical advantage and pulled one back through Leandro Trossard shortly before half-time.
Brighton continued to press in the second half and were rewarded when Neal Maupay equalized in the 55th minute.
The hosts completed the comeback in the 75th minute when Danny Welbeck fired home a stunning winner.
The victory was Brighton's first over City since 1989 and moved them up to 16th in the Premier League table.
Meanwhile, City's defeat leaves them 13 points behind Liverpool with just three games remaining.
"We have to improve for the Champions League final," Guardiola said after the game.
"We have to play much better than we did today if we want to win the trophy."
