NEW YORK — The 2024 WNBA Draft is in the books and as expected the Indiana Fever selected Caitlin Clark with the No. 1 pick.
The Fever had the No. 1 pick via a trade with the New York Liberty in 2022.
Clark, a 6-foot-1 guard, is widely considered to be the best prospect in the 2024 draft class.
She averaged 27.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game in her junior season at Iowa, leading the Hawkeyes to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
Clark is a dynamic scorer who can create her own shot and also set up her teammates.
She is also a gifted rebounder and defender.
The Fever are hoping that Clark can be the franchise cornerstone they have been looking for.
The Fever have not made the playoffs since 2016 and have not won a WNBA championship since 2012.
Clark is expected to make an immediate impact for the Fever and help them return to contention.
