Unai Emery 'sold me' Champions League project, now we need to make a mark on it - Youri Tielemans

Youri Tielemans has revealed that Unai Emery's ambitious plans for Aston Villa were a key factor in his decision to join the club.

The Belgian midfielder made the switch from Leicester City to Villa Park in the summer and has quickly become a key player for Emery's side.

Tielemans has been impressed by the Spaniard's vision for the future and believes that Villa can make a real impact in the Champions League.

"Unai Emery sold me the project of the club and the way he wants to play," Tielemans told the club's website.

"He wants to play attacking football and he wants to win trophies. That's what I want as well, so it was a perfect match for me."

Villa have made a strong start to the season under Emery, winning three of their four Premier League games so far.

They also reached the third round of the Carabao Cup, where they will face Manchester United.

Tielemans believes that Villa can continue to improve under Emery and is excited about the prospect of playing in the Champions League.

"We have a lot of quality in the squad and we're all working hard to improve," he said.

"We want to make a mark on the Champions League and we believe we can do it."

Villa will face Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in Group C of the Champions League.

They will begin their campaign at home to Barcelona on September 14.
